Seriously. I kind of suck at consoling people in times of moderate discomfort. Especially when lots of other people are already on top of it. What are you supposed to say? Don’t cry? It’ll be okay? I’m so sorry? I mean, I guess that’s what people say, but what does it really mean? Also, I don’t like the pressure/obligation to SAY something. I mean, you’re crying. Unless I hate you, isn’t my empathy implicit?
